Author: erikpiecethelinguist

I am a linguist, a language 'hippie', not (yet) a polyglot. My main research interest is in academic writing, especially evaluative stance and voice in tertiary academic discourse. My research studies draw upon systemic functional linguistics, and my specific theoretical interest is Appraisal, the system of interpersonal meaning in discourse semantics. I hope to share my love for language research, teaching and learning through this blog! I will make this blog more exciting with some of my favourite pastimes too. I am a Hong Kong independent musician known as 'Erik Piece'. Erik Piece is actually my stage name, but everyone knows me by Erik so I guess that's fine! So the blog will turn out to be a bit of everything... but I'm sure this will be exciting! See you in the blogosphere!
